Lackey

Here is one I did for the Dirt Dogs. I thought it was pretty funny idea, but I was way wrong (the original was different from this). I did not know at the time, that Mr. Lackey's wife was battling cancer. It is a strong reminder that there are more important things then baseball. My sincerest apologies to the Lackey's and anyone I have offended.

Thursday night in the Foundation Room at House of Blues in Boston, MA, Boston Red Sox aces Jon Lester and Clay Buchholz released their own labels of Charity Wines. I was invited to do a couple of illustrations and attend the event.

- Jon Lester and Clay Buchholz of the Boston Red Sox
- Heidi Watney, Red Sox Reporter for NESN
- Andrew Graff, president of Charity Wines
- Brett Rudy and Mike Lembo, founders of Charity Hop Sports Marketing

From this initiative, athletes do not profit a single dime. Instead, 100% of their proceeds will raise big league dollars for charity:

- Clay Buchholz: "ChardonClay" benefits the Jimmy Fund

- Jon Lester: "CabernAce" benefits Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center

Bob Dougherty, the Director at the House of Blues, made the opening remarks to kick off the evening. Andrew Graff, president of Charity Wines then provided background on his company and all they do for great causes. Suzanne Fountain, Director of the Jimmy Fund, and Michael Rubin with Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, both presented what they are doing to help fight cancer. Then Heidi Watney led a Q&A session with Lester and Buchholz, as well as took questions from the audience.

The 2011 wines are produced by acclaimed the Selby Winery located in Healdsburg, California. Both wines are expected to retail for about $14 a bottle, and will be available beginning this week and next across Red Sox Nation in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. For wine connoisseurs and Sox fans out of these states, wines can be purchased online at www.charitywines.com.

The Jimmy Fund
Clay Buchholz can be untouchable, proven by the no-hitter he tossed in just his second big league start. Yet, he reaches back and connects with those in need across the community. Buchholz is a Co-Captain of the Jimmy Fund, an official charity of the Boston Red Sox, and a portion of proceeds from ChardonClay support the Jimmy Fund in the fight against cancer at Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, helping to raise the chances of survival for children and adults with cancer locally and around the world. Cheers. Learn more at www.jimmyfund.org.

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center
Jon Lester knows the importance of overcoming barriers in life and on the diamond. Less than two years after being diagnosed with lymphoma, he pitched the biggest game of his life, helping his ballclub win a world championship. That's why proceeds from Jon Lester's CabernAce support Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the development of targeted immunotherapies. This pitch helps researchers maximize the body's own ability to strike out disease so lymphoma patients can win their own games in life.

Thank you John McGlynn for the photo.

Charity Wine

Here are a couple of drawings I did for Charity Wines that will be signed and put up for auction. I was very flattered and honored to be asked to contribute to a couple of great causes. I used the great illustrations by Jonathan Banchick in my illustration to help promote the wine.

http://www.worcestermag.com/home/top-stories/Top-News-Stories-of-2010-112328199.html

I made it into Worcester Mag! The Tea Party story was my contribution. I would like to thank Andy Fish for including me for this project. I think all the entries are great and I am very proud to be involved.

Each year top 10 lists abound. The best of everything is offered up ad nauseam, yet we keep on reading because we simply can’t help ourselves as we look back on the year we’ve just experienced.

At Worcester Mag we decided to do something different to run down the list of top news stories of 2010. Adding a little creativity to our news feed, Worcester Mag has asked ten local illustrators to take our list of top news stories and present them to you in comic form. Touching upon everything from City Square to Pit Bulls, our creative community offers up their take on the most talked about stories of 2010.

Pick up a copy, they are free!

Charity Wines

I was luck enough to be invited to the Tasting of the new Red Sox Charity Wine. I also had the good fortune to donate two pieces to a silent auction, which I can proudly say sold:)
I had an absolute blast! The Tasting was held at the Foundation Room in the House of Blues across the street from Fenway Park. Jacoby Ellsbury and Heidi Watney were in attendance. I was able to meet both Jacoby, who signed the drawing I did of him, and Heidi, she posed for a photo with me:) Josh Beckett is going to sign the drawing I did of him.
Go out and buy the wine (they are delicious), and help support Jacoby and Josh's charity's!!!

Alright so I don't post too many videos here, but this one cracked me up....but not in a gay way. This maybe one of the saddest videos out there, poor guy, he is going to have trust issues with youtube now.
